If you've been holding out on implementing mobile-friendly solutions for your website, time may be running out. Check out this article on Mobilegeddon, published earlier this year by Barry Schwartz. The article is one of many hundreds, perhaps thousands, describing a controversial change to Google's mysterious search algorithm. The author explains that mobile-friendly websites will receive a gentle boost in mobile search ranking, starting April 21st, 2015. Largely unspoken is the reverse situation, in which websites lacking a mobile platform are quietly ignored in mobile searches. Given that statistics overwhelmingly show a continued rise in mobile use of the internet, it makes sense to get on board. For several years now, website developers, SEO specialists and a slew of peripheral experts have warned that a time would come when mobile platforms would no longer be viewed as sound business tools, but basic requirements to be taken seriously on the web. Apparently Google has made the bold decision to define that time as now. Interesting stuff.
